The general process of zygomatic implant placement is similar to that of traditional implant placement. The first step of the process is to come in for an initial consultation; if you have been told by another dentist that you are not a candidate for dental implants, Dr. Matthews will conduct a thorough oral examination to deliver a second opinion. If there is not enough supporting jawbone to accept traditional implants, zygomatic or pterygoid implant placement may be an adequate alternative.

The surgical process itself takes just a few hours, and patients can expect full healing to occur within four to eight months. This will allow sufficient time for the bone to completely fuse with the zygomatic bone, in order to provide decades of secure implant anchorage.
