We have an exceptional team here at Big Sky Smile Center. We make a point of working hard
and enjoying our work at the same time! The comfort and satisfaction of our patients are our
top priorities.
I was raised in Miles City, and left in 1987 to raise a family
and follow my husband's career. We returned to town in
April 2008.

Prior to returning to Miles City, my family and I lived in
Sheridan, WY where I managed a dental office for eight
years.

I love doing what I do because I get to see the results of
patients feeling better and being happy with themselves for
taking steps toward their oral health needs.
I was born in Glasgow and lived there for 20 years. I
moved to Miles City to attend MCC in 2002. My parents are
Joan Burris, stepdad Kirk Burris, and Kent Murr. I have two
sisters, Susan Murr (age 21) and Halli Burris (age 5). I just
got a new puppy named Maya. She keeps my boyfriend,
Ben, and me busy. We like to spend time outside floating
the Yellowstone, going to Spotted Eagle, and riding
four-wheelers.

In high school I worked as a CNA at Valley View Nursing
Home. I loved working with all the people and my
co-workers; it was a great experience. I also worked for
three years at EMI in Miles City; I also enjoyed working with
my clients and co-workers there. I met Dr. Matthews three
years ago and accepted a position at Big Sky Smile Center
in March 2008. I love my job and all that I have learned
from Dr. Matthews. I see or learn something new each day,
and could not ask for a better boss or co-workers.
Greetings, Eastern Montana! I was born in Miles City and
was raised and graduated high school in Ashton, Idaho. I
moved back to Miles City after graduation. I met my
husband, Brent, here. We have been together for ten
years and have been married for seven and a half years.
We have a daughter named Ashlee (age 9) a son named
Brayden (age 5) and a black lab named Angus. My
children's birthdays are always a proud moment for us. I
love to watch them grow, learn, and change from year to
year. It's amazing how fast the years fly by. I guess they
do say "Time flies when you're having fun!" If only I could
tell myself that every day (or at least in the middle of the
kids' fights)! I enjoy spending time with family and friends,
scrapbooking (if I find time), gardening, four-wheeling, trap
bird hunting, and sitting around a fire eating smores :)

I was working for Dr. Nichols (an orthodontist) when I met
Dr. Matthews. Dr. Matthews was renting Dr. Nichols's office
space at the time, and asked if I would like to join his crew.
Here I am! I always enjoy when patients visit with Dr.
Matthews after treatment and tell him how great he is and
that they don't have the anxiety they once had when
visiting the dentist. Being comfortable is #1 in my book! It's
also always a great feeling when patients make sure to
schedule their appointments with you specifically.
I am originally from Miles City, and I enjoyed 15 years in
Bozeman (go Cats!), but I am thankful every day that I
had the opportunity to move back to my hometown. I
have been married to my husband Michael (who is a claims
adjuster for Montana Claims) for 15 years. I have two
wonderful boys and the best dog ever, a lab mix named
Mack. Connor, my oldest son, is a sophomore and just
received his driver's license; he is busy in FFA and plays
bass guitar in the high school band. My youngest son
Bowen is a sixth grader and enjoys spending time with his
friends. Together they all like to remind me that I am truly
outnumbered by males, but I love it! I enjoy spending time
with my co-workers outside the office. I also enjoy
watching football (Broncos football, that is), going to coffee
with Mike, baking with Bowen, and being closer to my mom.

I worked in administration for an oral/plastic surgeon in
Bozeman for three years. When my family moved to Miles
City, I decided to take on the new adventure as a dental
assistant at Big Sky Smile Center. A year later, I love what I
do, love seeing patients, and feel confident in my skills.
Every time a patient leaves my chair and has lost some of
that fear that's associated with 'going to the dentist,' I feel
that I've accomplished what it means to be a dental
assistant. My job is not just clinical; it's caring, encouraging,
and really understanding how it feels to be the patient.
Hello Miles City! My name is Karen Swigart. My family and I
are new to Miles City. I grew up in Sidney. After high school
I attended Dawson Community College in Glendive, then
North Dakota State College of Science in Wahpeton, ND. I
earned my Associate of Dental Hygiene degree in May of
1999. After college, my husband, Sterling, and I moved to
Rapid City, SD. We moved back to Sidney in 2002 to be
closer to family. We have two daughters, Ashtyn and
Karsyn. We are very excited about our new move to Miles
City and I really look forward to seeing you at Big Sky Smile
Center.
Apart from my time away pursuing my education, I
have lived in Miles City my whole life and have developed
a great love and appreciation for my hometown and its
people. I have supported local sports via my roles as a
Little Guy Football referee, a Miles City Generals Hockey
coach, a Custer County District High School volunteer
tennis coach, and a Rotary Club member. Through such
involvement, I have formed many acquaintanceships,
friendships, and partnerships with eastern Montana
residents. As the people are the heart of the community
and the focus of my dental practice, I look forward to
serving their dental care needs!

In 2007, I married my wife, Anna, whom I met in
Philadelphia. We have a son named Jackson, born on
December 6, 2008. Life with a baby is very busy, but
extremely rewarding and fun! Anna and I praise God for
blessing us so richly with loving friends and family,
excellent co-workers, and a great hometown!

I helped my husband establish Big Sky Smile Center in
March 2008 and served as full-time front office manager
until Rhonda joined us. I now serve as web developer and
assist with office functions as needed.

I am a librarian at Highland Park School and Washington
Middle School. I also teach Sunday School at Grace Bible
Church. I am from Virginia, but feel right at home in Miles
City!
I was born and raised in Glendive, Montana. I attended
Dawson community College for two years and received my
dental hygiene degree, in addition to a professionalism
award, in Sheridan, Wyoming. I have worked in a salon as
well as at Subway while attending school. While earning my
RDH degree, I was fortunate to see some patients at their
recall appointments who stated how much they enjoyed
coming in. I enjoy making a difference in people's lives and
look forward to seeing regular patients, as well as seeing
improvements in the smiles of my patients! I have one
younger brother who team ropes and bronc rides in
rodeos. I enjoy spending time with family and friends,
reading, scrapbooking, and just enjoying life!
