We have an exceptional team here at Big Sky Smile Center. We make a point of working hard
and enjoying our work at the same time! The comfort and satisfaction of our patients are our
top priorities.
Originally from Miles City, I was raised in Ashton, Idaho. After
graduating high school, I moved back here to attend college at
Miles Community College. At that point, I met my husband, who
was born and raised in MC. I am proud to call Miles City 'home'
and am proud to raise my children here.
My family includes my husband, Brent, our children Ashlee (age
11) and Brayden (age 8), as well as our black lab, Angus, who is
like our third child. Ashlee and Brayden are both very active and
keep us on our toes! My most cherished times are spent with
family and friends, gardening, shooting trap, bird hunting,
scrapbooking (if I ever get the time), and sitting next to a
campfire eating s'mores.
My family and I are currently in the middle of construction on our
new home and are excited about moving into town! We look
forward to the conveniences of being closer to family and friends,
along with the challenges of 'city living.' :)
This past year has brought new challenges, as I changed
positions to become the Office Administrator. I enjoy visiting with
patients and now have the opportunity to visit with each and
every person who comes through the front door. While utilizing
today's most up to date technology, we are able to help change
people's lives on a day to day basis. Seeing a bright, healthy smile
on each and every one of our patients proves to us that we have
done our job right!
Hi! My name is Kristi Certain. I was born and raised in Glasgow,
Montana and lived there for 20 years. I moved to Miles City in
August 2005 to attend MCC. My parents are Kent Murr, Joan
Burris, and stepdad Kirk Burris, I have two sisters: Susan Murr
(age 23) and Halle Rae Burris (age 7).
In September 2011, I married Ben Certain. We had a great time
at the wedding and we are excited to start our new life together.
We still have our “puppy” Maya, but she is not a puppy
anymore. She is 3 years old and about 85 lbs. She loves playing
fetch (or keep-away, as she likes to play) and being outside with
Ben and me.
Ben and I enjoy going to the movies, comedy club, bowling, and
fixing up the house.
In high school I worked as a CNA at Valley View Nursing Home. I
loved working with all the people and my co-workers; it was a
great experience. I also worked for three years at EMI in Miles
City; I also enjoyed working with my clients and co-workers there.
I met Dr. Matthews four years ago and accepted a position at
Big Sky Smile Center in March 2008. I love my job and all that I
have learned from Dr. Matthews. I see or learn something new
each day, and could not ask for a better boss or co-workers.
This past year, Dr. Matthews, Deann, and I went to Tuscan,
Arizona and Portland, Oregon for continuing education for IV
sedation. Then, Dr. Matthews and our staff went San Francisco
for a Clear Correct seminar. We have learned so much the last
year, and have enjoyed all the speakers and all that we have
learned and brought back to our office.
I am originally from Miles City and am very proud to say that I
have been back home in this great community and have been a
dental assistant for Big Sky Smile Center for almost four years! I
feel fortunate enough to say that I love what I do, who I work
with, and that I get to leave at the end of each day feeling like
I've made a difference in somebody's dental experience!
I can't believe that my oldest son, Connor, will graduate this year
from the same high school I did, and my son Bowen will be
starting at CCDHS next year! This year I finally got my little girl, in
the form of a miniature Dachshund named Vienna, and she is a
bundle of laughs at the end of long days!
I started my work experience in the oral/plastic surgery field as an
office manager. I feel fortunate that my position allows me to
work one on one with patients in a clinical setting. In addition, I
get to use my front office skills while continuing to learn new
avenues such as advertising and planning our new annual event,
"Sharing Our Smiles," which will provide adults with free dental
care! My job is greatly rewarding, and I thank my boss, my
patients, and my co-workers for that.
I look forward to many new changes this year will bring and look
forward to hopefully seeing you in our office!

My husband, Sterling, and I both grew up in Sidney and went to
high school there. We have two daughters; Ashtyn is 10 and
Karsyn is 7. We also have three house cats: Smudge, Macie, and
Copper. My entire family enjoys golfing, traveling, and spending
time with family and friends. Our girls stay very busy with
swimming, golf, soccer, and basketball.
I attended Dawson Community College in Glendive and earned
my Associate of Science degree. I graduated from North Dakota
State College of Science in Wahpeton, North Dakota in May
1999 with my Associate of Dental Hygiene degree. I have been a
hygienist for 12 years and have practiced in Montana, North
Dakota, and South Dakota. I have mostly worked for general
dentists, but I have also worked for a periodontist and in public
health. Dr. Matthews brought me into his practice in August
2009.
My favorite part of being a dental hygienist is educating my
patients about oral health. I particularly enjoy treating
periodontal disease. When my patients have improved oral
health that leads to improved over-all health, it is very fulfilling!
Apart from my time away pursuing my education, I
have lived in Miles City my whole life and have developed
a great love and appreciation for my hometown and its
people. I have supported local sports via my roles as a
Little Guy Football referee, a Miles City Generals Hockey
coach, a Custer County District High School volunteer
tennis coach, and a Rotary Club member. Through such
involvement, I have formed many acquaintanceships,
friendships, and partnerships with eastern Montana
residents. As the people are the heart of the community
and the focus of my dental practice, I look forward to
serving their dental care needs!
In 2007, I married my wife, Anna, whom I met in
Philadelphia. We have a son named Jackson, born on
December 6, 2008. Life with a little guy is very busy, but
extremely rewarding and fun! Anna and I praise God for
blessing us so richly with loving friends and family,
excellent co-workers, and a great hometown!

I helped my husband (Barrie) establish Big Sky Smile Center in
March 2008 and served as full-time front office manager for a
short time. I now serve as web developer and assist with office
functions as needed. I am the librarian for Highland Park School
and Washington Middle School and absolutely love my job. My
favorite thing to do is spend time with my sweet husband and
son, Jackson!

My husband, Danny, and I dated for about eight years and
finally tied the knot in August 2011. We are both from Glendive,
where we currently reside. I graduated in 2008 from Dawson
Community College with an Associate of Science degree. In
2010, I received my Bachelor degree in dental hygiene through
Sheridan Community College and the University of Wyoming.
Aside from working at the dental office, I enjoy spending time
with family and friends, scrapbooking, sewing, and reading a
good book.
I joined Big Sky Smile Center in 2010 and have enjoyed every
minute of it. At this office, we strive to provide our patients with
the best patient care possible by working as a team. I feel
fortunate to work with such a great group of people and look
forward to seeing you at your next dental visit!
I was born in Malta, Montana, but grew up in Miles City. I am
engaged to Jason Venn, whose son, Brekken, is four years old. I
have two beautiful daughters, Mija (age 9) and Morgan (age 6).
We have a Saint Bernard cross named Lebowski, a Kelpi cross
named Willus, two cats (Maude and Margaret), and a huge tank
full of fish whose names change often. :)
I graduated as a vet tech in Torrington, Wyoming and worked
at a veterinary hospital. Dr. Matthews inquired if I would be
interested in working for him and I accepted happily. I developed
a passion for dentistry and its health benefits while in high school
and enjoy working at Big Sky Smile Center. I couldn't ask for a
better crew of people to work with. I enjoy helping others not be
afraid to show off their smile.
I love spending time with my family, camping, and fishing. Jason
and I are busy planning our wedding for this summer.
